The Somos Georgia Campaign, the Georgia Latino Human Rights Alliance and Southerners On New Ground are planting seeds of mutual aid in the campaign to spread Human Rights in Atlanta, Georgia and across the United States.  Based in principles of universal human rights and economic justice, the Georgia Buy Spot and Sanctuary Zones Network consist of businesses, institutions and individuals across the United States pledge to affirm human rights and commit to support the movement against the criminalization of immigrant communities.

The BuySpots/Sanctuary Zones are places that:

  • COMMIT TO PUBLICLY OPPOSING HB-87 – This includes posting a Georgia Sanctuary Zone Sticker or Sign in a visible location.
  • PLEDGE TO NOT ALLOW LAW ENFORCEMENT INTO THEIR STORE OR PLACE OF WORSHIP FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF CHECKING THE IMMIGRATION STATUS OF ANYONE INSIDE – Places of worship and businesses legally have a right to refuse entry to police officers, unless there is a warrant or an immediate emergency.
  • PLEDGE TO REFUSE FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO LAWMAKERS WHO VOTED FOR HB-87 – This includes Representative Matt Ramsey, who introduced this bill, as well as those who co-sponsored or voted for HB-87, and Governor Deal who signed HB87 into law
